10Pink Sheep

A Lucky Spawn

The infamous pink sheep makes plenty of appearances throughout the movie. While the average audience member may question why a pink sheep specifically, fans of the game will know how lucky Jack Black was to find one naturally spawning.

While you can obtain pink sheep by crafting dye to change the color of a sheep’s wool, naturally spawning pink sheep have less than a 1% chance of spawning. Since then, the pink sheep has gained its own reputation of being one of Minecraft’s rarest mobs alongside mobs like the blue axolotl. It has even been adopted by popular Minecraft youtuber, Pink Sheep, as part of their branding, accessorized with a mustache and shades.

9Village Pillage

Ring that Bell

As our heroes seek shelter in a local village to gear up for the mansion, an unexpected piglin raid takes place to reclaim the cube-shaped orb. The first indicator of danger is the sound of villagers ringing bells as they scramble to find safety.

Pillages are not uncommon in the world of Minecraft. However, it’s not usually the piglins that attack. When a raid takes place, you can ring the bells to warn nearby villagers who will seek safety in their houses. This gives you a chance to gear up and prepare for battle as the pillagers will attack in waves, seeking destruction and death.

8Steve’s First House

Dirt is Best for Homes

If you have no clue how the world of minecraft works, then have no fear as Steve gives us a brief run down during the prologue. As we see Steve learning about the blocky world, he shows off various builds including his homes.

You may recognize his first home as the shabby dirt hut which nearly everyone built during their early minecraft days. Even the great Steve has to start at the beginning with nothing but dirt. A fun reference to the infamous base we’ve all built at least once. Perhaps you still live in a house of dirt.

7Woodland Mansion Fight

We Don’t Talk About Fight Club

The moment we were all waiting for since the trailers: chicken jockey! The woodland mansion feels quite different to the one you can explore in the game, which is long overdue a makeover. However, one of the faithful parts is, surprisingly, the fight club’s wrestling ring.

When exploring the third floor of the mansion, you may come across a large room with what appears to be some kind of cage in the center and balconies above. This is often referred to as the arena room. While there are no chicken jockeys falling from the ceiling this time, now you can host your own fight clubs in the manor. Just don’t talk about them.

6That Waiter Looks Familiar

Jeb Makes his Cameo

Jeb is the lead designer of Minecraft and Chief Creative Officer of Mojang Studios. He is well known within the Minecraft community from his in-game Easter egg where naming a sheep jeb_ makes its wool rainbow to hosting Minecraft Live segments.

During the villager date B-plot, a familiar waiter makes an appearance tending to the couple. Many people may not recognize Jeb at first glance if they’re more familiar with his animated avatar. However, we can assure you that the waiter is Jeb. A popular dev in the community with some of his Minecraft Live moments becoming infamous memes to the point they’re even stickers on the official Minecraft Live discord.

5Water Bucket Save

The Infamous MLG Water Bucket Trick

Water bucket, release! Steve is a professional minecrafter as he saves himself and his companions by pulling off the famous MLG water bucket trick. If we don’t question how he places the water from so far away, we can appreciate the fun reference to one of Minecraft’s oldest tricks.

10 Best AFK Farms in Minecraft

Farms in Minecraft go beyond just crops, and the best ones on this list give you the best resources for no work.

Since all you need to remove any fall damage you may take is a single block of water, many have caught themselves with last-minute water buckets. If you’re feeling up for a challenge, see how many blocks you may fall while still being able to catch yourself. Just don’t try this trick in the nether.

4An Ode to a Legend

Technoblade Never Dies

As a pig walks in wearing the infamous crown, Natalie asks if he is a king. Steve smiles and denies this, stating he is a legend. An ode to the late Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade who took the world by storm. Known for his amusing videos, especially on Skyblock and Bed Wars as well as the popular Dream SMP, millions of fans tuned in to watch every video.

To this day, his father, known as Technodad, keeps his son’s memory alive with odd posts online and celebrating milestones. Friends of Techno’s such as Tommyinnit even recovered footage from an old recording to put together a Technoblade video titled “Technoblade VS 100 Minecraft Youtubers”. Technoblade never dies. He will always be remembered fondly by his family, friends, fans and the Minecraft community.

3YouTuber Auction

Who Wouldn’t Want Steve’s Stuff?

After Steve vanishes to the world of Minecraft, his stuff soon finds itself in a storage bin auction with Garett eager to get his hands on it. As the bidding begins, if you have a keen eye, you can spot several famous Minecraft youtubers making their appearance to bid on Steve’s stuff, including DanTDM, Mumbo Jumbo, LDShadowlady and Aphmau.

While none of them say a word it is still super cool to see them make an appearance after it was revealed they went to not only see the set but film this cameo as revealed by DanTDM in his video “I’M IN THE MINECRAFT MOVIE”.

2Finished?

I think he’s Swedish.

A strange but amusing B-plot of A Minecraft Movie is Jennifer Coolidge’s character Vice Principle Marlene falling in love with a villager who escaped the blocky world after she struck him with a car.

On their dinner date, a waitress asks the pair if they are finished, to which Marlene replies “I think he’s Swedish”. While this joke can stand alone, it also references the studio behind the game, Mojang, who are based in Sweden. A perfect tie to the game’s Swedish origins while getting some laughter from the audience as the pair are a match made in a blocky heaven.

1Post Credits

If you were patient enough to wait till the credits rolled, you were rewarded with a fun post-credit scene. As Steve goes back to the place he used to live, he knocks on the door and is greeted by a ginger woman in green. While we never see her face, she introduces herself as Alex.

Alex was the female default skin alongside Steve until October 2022, when more default skins were added. Unlike Steve, who is blue and teal, Alex wears green and brown with orange hair to contrast Steve. She also introduces a new player model with arms 1 pixel slimmer than Steve’s.
