It is safe to say that Apple hasa lotin the works for its original video streaming service, Apple TV+. But one of the mostambitious projectsisFoundation.

Foundationwill be a sci-fi/drama series based on Isaac Asimov’s series of novels of the same name, and it’s currently in production now. And according to an announcement byScreen Ireland(viaAppleInsider), it will be the biggest on location production in Ireland’s history.

When the series arrives to start production Southern Ireland, it will bring with it the addition of over 500 production jobs to the region. There’s more:

Several training initiatives are underway for new entrants into the industry in the Limerick region, with over 40 skills development participants on the show. Irish talent is represented across the production, including award winning costume designer Eimer Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh, who leads a large costume department.

This is big news for Ireland, of course, but it also serves to show thatFoundationis going to be pretty big in its own right. Of course, just how Apple plans to bring Asimov’s series of novels to the screen (or screens) remains a mystery, and it’s easily one of the most exciting series coming to Apple’s streaming service in the future.

One hopes they can pull off all 10 episodes.

But Apple TV+’sFoundationis in no way short on talent. David S. Goyer (Terminator: Dark Fate,The Dark Knight) is writing the series, while also serving as showrunner and executive producer. Josh Friedman (Snowpiercer) is co-writing the project as well.

The cast is equally amazing. Jared Harris (Chernobyl) and Lee Pace (Halt and Catch Fire,Guardians of the Galaxy)areheadlining the series. In addition to that we have Lou Llobell (Voyagers), Leah Harvey (Fighting With My Family), Laura Birn (Void), Terrence Mann (Critters), and Cassian Bilton (If You Can Believe It) allpart of the castas well.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to seeing whatFoundationlooks like for Apple TV+?
