Tokai Teio is a bright and bubbly Uma who brings something special to the table with 10% Speed,10% Stamina, and 10% Guts growth bonuses.This makes her a well-balanced Pace Chaser with an aptitude for Medium and Long races.
Her unique skill is “Certain Victory” and I’ve got to tell you upfront, it’s one of the “harder” skills to activate with very strict conditions for its usage and is more of a last-ditch attempt to steal a win.
That said, there’s something magical when Tokai Teio gets you thrilled with excitement when she’sovertaking four other racersin the final stretches of the competition. So if you’re looking for a challenging character that can handle both Medium and Long races, Tokai Teio might just be the answer you’re looking for.

If you’repulling for the Spotlight Derby Scout, chances are you’re actually pulling for Mejiro Mcqueen [End of the Skies] rather than Tokai Teio. That’s fair, sinceMejiro Mcqueenis a better Pace Chaser than Tokai Teio, and she can also substitute as a Front Runner since she has a B aptitude for it.
However, if you’re like me, who’s taking on this gamecompletely F2P,we’d have to take what we can get. But don’t get me wrong, Tokai Teio isn’t entirely too bad. In fact, she’s got solid stats that you’re able to build around usinggood legacy choicesandsupport cards. In the end, it’s about how you build around her deficiencies so she can snatch away the gold.
The Best Stats For Tokai Teio [Beyond the Horizon]
Tokai Teio works best as a Pace Chaser with excellent aptitudes for Medium (A) and just about decent aptitude for Long (B) races on Turf. Her stat bonuses include a boost of 10% in Speed, 10% in Stamina, and 10% Guts.

Before you start Career Mode, get legacies that can increase her Speed and Stamina. These are the two building blocks that you need to focus on, since she starts with a somewhat low speed, which leaves much to be desired.
Next, during the early parts of Career Mode, focus on a balancing act between Speed, Stamina, and Power. This is essentially what you’ll be doing throughout her career, because a mistake in stat allocation is very costly for this character.
Once you’re comfortable that she’s maintaining a strong position in the middle of the pack, and she has enough power to overtake other racers, this will be the best time to level up her Guts or Wit.
A good way to make sure that you’re getting good training is to use the races as a measuring stick. For example, if you noticed during the race that her skills aren’t kicking in as much as you’d like, then you need to level up Wit.
Meanwhile, if you’re not getting the burst that you want in the last stretches of the race, you’re going to need to level up Stamina and Guts. If you’re getting beat by other racers in terms of positioning, level up Power.
As you go on towards her career, you’re going to want to commit more to her training and a bit less to optional races, since her career events are a bit tricky and there are parts where the downtime is just 3 or 4 turns, so attempt to plan around this in advance.

Skills are where you’re going to do a lot of tweaking and choices to transform Tokai Teio into a powerhouse, but also mostly to cover the deficiencies of her almost unusable unique skill. Luckily, there are only two types of skills that you’d need:
The first one isskills that increase her velocity on corners and straights.This is important because, most of the time, you’re not going to be able to have a chance to activate her unique skill, so you need to compensate for that with skills that increase her speed, such as Homestretch Haste or Straightaway Adept.
The second type is all about Stamina.You need to stack up on skills that reduce fatigue or restore endurance. Your strength lies in emptying the tank during the last spurts of the race, so having more stamina stock is very useful.

The ideal race that you’d like to have for Tokai Teio is when Prudent Positioning is activated during the start, and either Nimble Navigator or Prepared to Pass goes off for your final break out, and you finish at the #1 spot with Homestretch Haste, all the while getting some of your Stamina back using your restoration skills throughout the whole race.
Tokai Teio also benefits with debuff skills that reduce endurance or disturb other runners, like Stamina Eater or Murmur, since this is an effective counter, especially against Front Runners, who you’d always want to be within arms' reach, rather than letting them break out of the pack early to gain considerable distance throughout the entire race.
And there you have it! Remember that building Tokai Teio properly is all about balance. She’s not about leading from the front, and if you put all your cards into making a desperate last-second burst to gamble on her unique skill, it’s just not worth the risk. You’re just setting yourself up for disappointment.
Instead, what’s better is to focus on getting skills and stats that provide a boost to navigation, overtaking, and maintaining a strong position in the middle of the pack for a true explosive come-from-behind win.
