In the fast-paced and highly-chaotic matches of Deadlock, it can be hard to tell what the use of these optional objectives are, but trust us, they’re worth it.
What is the Soul Urn?
The Soul Urn is an item that spawns on the east or west side of the arena, and can be picked up by a player to move it to the capture zone on the opposite side of the map. The player must then wait inside the capture zone without being killed or interrupted until the timer runs out, and they will score the capture.
If a player manages to capture the Soul Urn, they receive various rewards:
Soul Urn Spawns
The Soul Urn spawns atexactly ten minutesinto the match, the same time that the mid-boss appears. The Soul Urn respawnsevery five minutesafter its initial spawn (15 minutes, 20 minutes, etc.) regardless of when the Urn is captured.
The Soul Urn spawns next to either one of thetwo identical statueson the east and west sides of the map (at the exact mid-point between the bases). The capture zone will appear next to the unaccompanied statue on the opposite side of the map, requiring the player to run the full length of the map to reach it.
When the Soul Urn spawns, all players will be alerted to it with an in-game notification. The mini-map will now have the Soul Urn and capture zones highlighted with bright green emblems (an urn for the urn, and a square for the capture area).
Transporting and Capturing
To pick up the Soul Urn, all a player has to do isstand near it(once it has finished lowering) and wait for the progress bar to fill up. Once this is done, your character will pick up and hold the Soul Urn in their hands.
When carrying the Soul Urn, allweapons,attacks, andabilitiesare blocked from use. Players can only move when carrying, as well as using stamina-based moves likejumping,sliding,anddodging. Climbing Ropes, as well as Teleporters, can not be used while carrying the Soul Urn.
Enemies can attack and kill the carrier, withheavy melee attacksinstantly causing the carrier to drop the urn from their possession. When dropped, the Soul Urn can be picked up by any player that stands near it, or else it will be teleported back to its spawn after a short while.
Dropping off the Soul Urn has the same requirement as picking it up, and is done bystanding in the capture areaand waiting for the progress bar to fill. Once you have successfully captured the Soul Urn, the rewards will be distributed to you and your teammates, and all players will be alerted of the capture (including the enemy team).
