EA Sports UFC 5 has been out for a while and is available for 10 hours for those with an EA Play subscription on either Xbox Series consoles or the PS5. While the core gameplay has seen some tuning up from the prior entry, one thing we have never seen before is the inclusion of this many early versions of fighters. UFC Undisputed 3 had UFC and earlier PRIDE versions of some fighters - but certainly not to this extent. The first season of Origins versions of fighters has now launched with eight fighters getting new virtual incarnations based on key early moments in their careers.

The earliest in the overall timeline would be Jon Jones' gear at UFC 87 from 2008 - he was a short-notice replacement and began his run inside the Octagon on that night before becoming the arguable greatest fighter pound for pound of all-time and certainly the most dominant fighter in UFC history overall. In 2013, Connor McGregor came into the UFC via UFC on Fuel 9 - which was a third-tier show - but led to a fast KO in under a minute to make him a star overnight. Leon Edwards’s rebound in 2015 at UFC Fight Night 64 is showcased with a big eight second win that can be celebrated here with a new version of him in the game.

Sean O’Malley’s the first Contender Series fighter showcased here and his debut in 2017 is showcased here, while Alex Pereira also gets a 2017 showcase as well. Alexander Volkanovski gets a 2011 throwback, while Valentine Shevchenko’s 2014 Octagon debut and subsequent nine years of dominance can be replicated. Finally, Israel Adesanya’s 2017 run gets him immortalized in a second incarnation within the game. From now until November 16, you may also get a free download of Muhammad Ali as well and a new Fight Week launches in the game to celebrated UFC 2915 in Madison Square Garden.

The in-game Fight Nights allow you to take on fight contracts of varying difficulties - enabling you to go all-out for a big challenge if you want to, or if you want to take it easy, go with lower stakes and reap rewards even then. Players can also issue PPV fantasy picks alongside ten overall challenges for Fight Week that enable thing like fighter variants and new cosmetics for created fighters. You can play EA Sports UFC now on any Xbox Series console or on the PlayStation 5. It follows up on the last entry with more content than ever before and more polish for the action.
