Hades 2, the sequel to one of the best and most acclaimed roguelikes ever made, has already captivated PC players with its Early Access version and has become one of the most anticipated titles of the coming months.

Switch 2 Will Be the First Console to Receive Hades 2

We now know all the launch titles for theNintendo Switch 2, including Nintendo exclusives, enhanced Switch 2 editions, and third-party games. Not all of them will be available on June 06, 2025, though.

Some examples includeElden Ring Tarnished Edition,Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, andHades 2, the latter being atimed console exclusive for Nintendo.

Supergiant Games has just confirmed thatHades 2will debut first onNintendo Switch 2, following a similar release strategy as the original, which launched first on Nintendo Switch before arriving on other platforms.

This means that whenHades 2is released, it will first be available onPC and Switch 2. For now, it’s unclear how long the timed exclusivity on Nintendo’s new console will last. Likewise, there’s no word yet on whether it will be ready for 2025 or pushed into 2026.

Melinoë Steps Up in a Magical New Story

Hades 2is a roguelike that expands upon the original 2020 game while retaining its gameplay, artistic style, and iconic soundtrack. Supergiant Games has admitted that the idea of creating a sequel was daunting and filled them with respect—but they ultimately embraced the challenge.

The story followsMelinoë, Princess of the Underworld, as she faces off against theTitan of Timeto rescue her father Hades and the other Olympian gods from Greek mythology.

To do so, she will receive training fromHecate, a deity associated with witchcraft—introducing a key difference from its predecessor: this is a gamemore influenced by magic.

Technical Performance on Nintendo Switch 2

From a technical standpoint, the directors at Supergiant Games praised theSwitch 2’s specificationsas they aim to ensure optimal performance.

As a result,Hades 2 will run at 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2, and also on the original Nintendo Switch, though with a higher resolution on the newer hybrid console.

It’s still unknown whether the game will receive atraditional physical editionfor Switch 2 or follow theGame-Key Cardtrend seen with titles likeElden Ring,Street Fighter 6, or the remaster ofBravely Default.

Nintendo andSupergiant Gamesstated thatmore news about Hades 2 will be shared in the coming months, as the game still does not have a confirmed release date.
