House of the Dragonseason two just had a phenomenal episode which left the fans absolutely dumbfounded. From Aegon’s impending fate to Rhaenys and Meleys’ death, the latest episode of the series was just too much to take in at once. Still, we cannot disagree that this was probably one of the best episodes in the entireGame of Thronesuniverse.

And now, we wait for the next part of the story which will be out in just a few days. The preview for the fifth episode showed Meleys’ cut-off head being paraded in the streets of King’s Landing with the claim that Aegon slayed the dragon. While this move was diabolical in itself, it opens the door for another horrific plotline from George R.R. Martin’sFire & Blood– the storming of the Dragonpit.
House of the DragonTeaser Parades Meleys’ Head Around
After the death ofEve Best’s Rhaenys and her dragon ‘The Red Queen’ Meleys, the remains of the dragon were then brought to King’s Landing where they proceeded to tie her head up on a cart and parade it around town, as seen in theteaserfor the upcoming episode.
It is announced,“Behold! The traitor dragon, Meleys! Slain by King Aegon.”By parading a dead dragon, The Greens proved to the common folks that dragons can be killed after all. They basically said, ‘Hey, our dragons are not actually invincible.’

If you have readGeorge R.R. Martin’sFire & Blood, you will certainly remember the scarring event that was the Storming of the Dragonpit. After all, that is something that stays with you for a WHILE.
Even With Eve Best Giving the Performance of a Lifetime, House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 4’s 9.7 IMDb Rating is Still Behind 4 Game of Thrones Episodes
Now, parading Meleys’ head could be just whatHouse of the Dragonneeded to plant the seed in the common folk’s mind that they too can kill the majestic beasts, which they eventually do in the book.
What Happened at the Dragonpit?
For those who haven’t readFire & Blood, here’s a quick summary of what happened.
After the repercussions of the Dance of the Dragons, the commoners of King’s Landing broke into a riot that caused the death of five dragons, which began on the night of Queen Helaena’s suicide. The crazed mob was urged on by The Shepherd who brainwashed the people into believing that the only way they would achieve salvation was by killing the dragons. Thanks to this and the misrule of the Targaryens, the mob headed over to the Hill of Rhaenys where the Dragonpit was located.

When the mob reached the Dragonpit, the four dragons inside had been awakened by all the commotion and they were angry. However, with nowhere to go, each one of them fell to their death one by one.

The first to die was Shrykos, a small she-dragon. Bound by chains, she is slayed by Hobb the Hewer who deals seven blows in order to kill her. Next was Morghul, who fought till the very end and burned many rioters but was finally defeated by “the Burning Knight.” Tyraxes’ death came next. He burned the intruders until the front of his lair was completely blocked with corpses. However, when the Shepherd advised people to enter from the back door, Tyraxes got entangled in his own chains and was slain by the mob.
The most heartbreaking death out of the four was of Dreamfyre, whose rider Helaena had just taken her own life. While she managed to break off her chains and kill countless people, a crossbow bolt hit her in the eye. Half-blind and full of rage, Dreamfyre flew into the Dragonpit’s dome and came tumbling down with it, getting crushed to her death.

She was solely responsible for killing more rioters than the three dragons combined.
After the massacre, Rhaenyra’s dragon, Syrax, flew to the survivors after being freed by Joffrey Velaryon. Instead of killing them with fire, Syrax attacked the mob by using her claws and teeth. Eventually, even she fell to her death.

Meleys’ decapitated head being paraded around King’s Landing is enough to put an idea into the commoners’ heads that killing dragons is something that can be accomplished and gives way to a horrific plotline yet to unfold. This also proves that it was The Greens who were responsible for the fall Targaryens before the Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen.
Fans React to The Greens’ Dishonorable Act
The first few seconds of the teaser were difficult to watch for all the dragon-loving fans ofHouse of the Dragon. When the episode finally drops, we are pretty sure that a few tears will be shed by almost everyone and a lot of them will be angered by Team Green’s atrocity.

While this may be a way for The Greens to flaunt their victory over The Blacks, it was still a very dishonorable act on their part. Fans are obviously furious at them and believe that this is something that only they are capable of doing.
Here’s what enraged and heartbroken fans had to say about it all:
imagine showing your most important thing to the people and telling them in a way “look they can be killed” is a thing only greens would do. Targaryens must respect to their dragons.

this also gives them the confidence to slaughter them in the dragonpit

A true targaeryan would never parade the head of a dragon in the city. Disgraceful
