Hulk is unquestionably the strongest character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—as further proved inThor: Ragnarokwhen the Quinjet welcomes Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner as “The Strongest Avenger.” But even if he is the strongest, the question of who comes closest to him in terms of power still arises. And while most fans would have the answer ‘Juggernaut’ to this question, the strongest character’s storyline goes much further than this.

As it turns out, Ruffalo’s Hulk has an even bigger threat and competition than the big old Juggernaut, and this surprising rival is the MCU’s strongest villain who has already debuted on the big screen: Venom.Yep, you read that right.

While the crimson giant that is Juggernaut has proved to be a lethal competition to Hulk in Marvel comics, considering how he has defeated the green, angry guy twice in the comics, Bruce Banner still needs to be scared of one other villain of the MCU: Venom aka Eddie Brock.

Though this might come as a surprise to many non-comic reader fans, however, the Lethal Protector has already defeated Juggernaut before inVenom Annual(2018)#1’s story,Unstoppableby James Stokoe and Travis Lanham, proving to be more dangerous than him to Mark Ruffalo’s character.
Unstoppableshowed the strongest villain of the MCU, who has already debuted on the big screens, confronting Juggernaut while the latter was acting as a muscle for the mob trying to intimidate a lawyer. And as surprising as it might be, Venom won the fight by not only physically overpowering the crimson giant but also perfectly redirecting his strength and using it against him.

Although Juggernaut’s physical strength earns him the title of being one of the strongest characters in the entire MCU, the symbiote proved to be hard on him with his large size, quickness, and agility despite the mutant anti-hero being famous for not stopping once he set his mind to something.
Just like that, by getting the better of his opponent, Venom ended up defeating Juggernaut in the most thoroughly brutal way ever in the comics—something that should scare and alertMark Ruffalo‘s Hulk to the core as a rival.

Hulk And Juggernaut’s History In Marvel Comics
In Marvel comics, Juggernaut is one of the most physically powerful characters besides Hulk who even holds the strength to tear down the barriers between realities, as he has done before in the books. That being said, he could easily put up a tough fight for anyone with his large size and massive strength.
The Incredible Hulk, on the other hand, was the MCU’s first true powerhouse character with an absurd level of superhuman strength. Not only has he earned the title of being the standard by which other characters’ strength is judged, but he has also remained the strongest character for quite some time, until the entrance of Venom.
When it comes to physical combat, Juggernaut and Hulk have indeed gotten into a violent brawl, with each being as brutal with the other as possible. However, while the crimson giant has pummelled the green giant unconscious with his superhuman strength, it was never in a fair fight and the latter has already proved to be stronger than him by stopping him on more than one occasion in the comics.
Nonetheless, with the entry of the Lethal Protector that is Eddie Brock’s Venom, Bruce Banner’s Hulk might have to face incredibly tough competition soon on the big screen, considering how the symbiote has already debuted on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s big screens.
