Star Wars Outlaws Or Starfield? Fans Debate Which Game Does Planet Landing Better

Some fans believe Starfield could learn a thing or two from Star Wars Outlaws, while others believe the comparison is unfair.

While Massive Entertainment has already said that it waspartly inspired by other Ubisoft games, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the game’s creative director has gone on record to let players know one very important thing: this is not just another Ubisoft game.

Star Wars Outlaws Dev Discusses the Game’s Scope and Staying Within the Star Wars Universe

In a new interview withGamesIndustry.biz, Julian Gerighty told the outlet that Massive Entertainment are “hyper-conscious of the Ubisoft house style.” He went on to explain, “Massive has always been different. The Division and The Division 2 were different. Originally Massive was an independent studio, then an Activision studio, so it has always thought very differently. The DNA of Massive is quite unique from Ubisoft. But there are so many great lessons to be learned by the Ubisoft way of making games.”

Gerighty then gave an example of just one way that Outlaws intends to stand out from Ubisoft’s often-repetitive formula. “Instead of having a skill tree and an upgrade tree like a traditional game, here you seek out experts, to create this padawan/master relationship in the world, which will lead you on [an] adventure to upgrade your character,” Gerighty said.

“Everything is ingrained in people and the world,” Gerighty said when discussing Outlaws' uniqueness.

Star Wars Outlaws is scheduled to be released on August 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The upcoming triple-a title confirmed that it had “gone gold” earlier this month, meaning there’s a very minimal chance of any last-minute delays.
