After the jaw-dropping events of the first season, the crew is left stranded on Skull Island, the aforementioned home of King Kong. The events ofMonarch: Legacy of MonstersSeason 2 will presumably take place afterKong: Skull Island, and perhaps flashback to previous decades closer to the 2017 film. A deep dive into the mysterious island will likely take place, introducing new monsters that didn’t make the cut inSkull Islandin addition to potentially re-introducing Skullcrawlers.MonarchSeason 2 occurs prior toGodzilla: King of the Monsters, so the world is still somewhat normal compared to the current state it finds itself in during theGodzilla x Kongmovies.
In addition toMonarch, expectmore spin-offs set in the MonsterVersefrom Apple TV+ coming soon. As the first series proved to be a success with critics and audiences alike, the streamer is going all-in on the kaiju franchise. It is unclear what another batch of shows could focus on, but fans speculate it could range from Mothra to King Ghidorah, featured inKing of the Monsters. No matter the case, there are plenty of classic monsters from both the Godzilla and King Kong franchises to pull from, but it’s now up to Apple TV+ to make good use of them without spreading the narrative too thin.
