Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Content Roadmap

Let’s take a closer look at whatMonster Hunter: Rise Sunbreak’s first Title Update will bring to the table!

A Monster Hunting We Will Go!

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s first major update will bring four new monsters for Hunters to slay. Specifically, there will be four new variants of existing beasts. Two of them were actually announced previously, specifically theLucent Nargacugaand theSeething Bazelgeuse. Joining these will be the SilverRathalosand the GoldRathian- both beasts of terrifying power as well.

The Lucent Nargacuga is a rare variant of theNargacugathat was initially introduced way back in Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate. Instead of having jet black fur and thriving in the shadows, the Lucent variant is bathed in white fur. It also tends to hide in the fog of night, striking quickly with its various tail spikes. The monster is also surprisingly agile for a beast of this size.

Next is the Seething Bazelgeuse which is an even more dangerous, ferocious version of the existingBazelgeuse. The “Seething” variant has earned its name due to the intense heat that its scales seem to emit, ready to explode at a moment’s notice. If the Seething Bazelgeuse is anything like its lesser brethren, it will mean that they will be able to launch their scales offensively at any hapless hunter.

Not All That Glitters is Gold

Lastly, we have theSilverandGoldversions of Rathalos and Rathian, respectively. Both are large flying wyverns that are adept at using Fire and Poisonous breath attacks. Rathalos is sometimes dubbed the “King of the Skies” or “Silver Sun”. Meanwhile, Rathian is the “Queen of the Lands” or sometimes “Golden Moon”. Each of these is a terrifying sight in its own right. However, we now have upgraded versions being introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

As battles get drawn out, both of these wyverns start to actually grow in power instead of weakening. Their attacks become more powerful as they start to reach their ultimate “Incandescent” state.

New Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Activities and Location

It’s not all doom and gloom for budding hunters, however! The Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will also introduce a newlocationas well as some new quests related to Anomaly Research. Aside from that, there will also be new Event Quests being added to the game periodically starting August 18th. We can also expect to see morePaid DLCpacks starting on August 10th. Probably moreLayered Armor?

Joining theElgado Outpost, the Citadel, the Jungle, and theYawning Abyssis the new Forlorn Arena. This area looks to be a gigantic ancient structure that has been all but forgotten by time. It is in total ruins, and merely a shadow of its former self. Fitting that it is bathed in fog and moonlight, giving off a somewhat serene vibe. At night it is sometimes graced with awe-inspiring meteor showers. Don’t be fooled, however, as the locale is home to some dangerous foes. Particularly, the Lucent Nargacuga is fond of prowling these ancient walls.

The Anomalies

Next, we have new Anomaly Research Quests. These quests will have hunters go out into the world and seek out Afflicted Monsters that have been touched by the Qurio. Some quests will have hunters slay these afflicted monsters, while others will be purely investigative.

Some monsters are so affected by the anomalies that their locations would totally be different from their usual biomes. As such, Anomaly Investigations’ mission parameters will be randomized: target monster, location, and the number of hunters involved.

Qurious Crafting

To reward players who undertake these new quests is the Anomaly Research Lab. Completing Anomaly-related activities will level up the hunter’s Anomaly Research Level. This is a new metric in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and will primarily consist of rewards to augment existing equipment.

Qurious Crafting is related to customizing weapons and armor that have been upgraded to the maximum levels already. Only perfected items are eligible to be the target of Qurious Crafting. This endgame system will allow hunters to add additional attributes to their weapons, fully customizing the bonuses they receive. If you wish, you may even randomize the attributes of the item, creating something truly unique.

Wrapping Up the Hunt

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s Title Update 1 is the first of 3 Free updates that Capcom has planned for 2022. The next update can be expected to drop “Late September”. This will introduce even more rare species and subspecies of existing monsters, as well as even more powerful foes to take down. The last of 2022’s updates will come around winter time, and will also introduce more powerful beasts. No other activities have been revealed so far, as well as any 2023 plans.
