Summary
Following the devastating cyberattack on Insomniac Games last year in which hacker group, Rhysida, shared personal details about some of the studio’s employees alongside major information aboutMarvel’s Wolverineand other titles in development, various clips from Insomniac’s upcoming titles, including acanceled multiplayerSpider-Mangame, have been surfacing online.
New footage ofMarvel’s Wolverinewas shared by404LEAK_on X, with a further post on ther/GamingLeaksAndRumoursSubreddit containing more gameplay clips, and whereas there have been clips of the mutant engaged in bloody battles in the past, these new videos focus more on the game’s traversal. The footage showed Wolverine in his yellow and blue comics outfit leaping from rooftop to rooftop across an early build of Madrapoor, with some drawing comparisons to the parkour seen in theMarvel’s Spider-Mangames, just without the web-swinging and aerobatics that the webheads display.

Marvel’s Wolverine Leaks Are Highlighting A Growing Problem With Games
The gaming industry is larger than ever before, and therefore, leaks such as the one Insomniac Games just faced have become a growing problem.
Wolverine’s Parkour Resembles Some Of His Comic Approaches To Traversal
Wolverine Is Quite Agile In The Comics
Traversal has always been one of Insomniac’s strong suits as a studio, with titles such asSunset Overdriveand the aforementionedMarvel’s Spider-Mangames seeing players fluidly move across their open-world maps. Therefore, while some may haveexpected Wolverine to be slightly more groundedfollowingMarvel’s Wolverine’s grittier reveal trailer and perhaps use his motorcycle to get around the map ala.Days Gone, it shouldn’t be too surprising that Insomniac has stuck to what it’s good at.
Fortunately, these methods aren’t out of character for Wolverine, especially if the story is pulling from comics where he clashed with The Hand, a ninja group that may have been teased following anupdate toMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.IfMarvel’s Wolverineis drawing inspiration from the acclaimed, action-packed 1980sWolverinecomics run by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller where Logan traveled to Japan, for example, Insomniac’s form of traversal could definitely work, especially as the gameplay footage seems to have given Wolverine more weight in his movements to set him apart from Spider-Man, which makes sense considering the heroes' different builds and skills.

Of course, everything shared in the leaks isn’t final. TheSpider-Man: The Great Webtrailer was a proof of concept for a presentation, andMarvel’s Wolverineis still in development. There’s also no official word on whenMarvel’s Wolverinewill be released, so it is possible Insomniac will make some major changes between now and that date. For now, though, it does seem possible that while the reveal trailer painted a more grounded picture of the game, and its creative team has still promised it will have a mature tone, it could also lean into some of Wolverine’s more action-packed arcs and feature parkour mechanics that have become extremely common in the past decade or so of superhero gaming without it being too out of place.
