There has been a lot of speculation about whether Nintendo were going to reveal the new Pokémon game during E3 2018. But it seems we’ve got our answer as a trailer confirming the release of Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! has popped up today forNintendo Switch.
Nintendo Reveals Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!
For anyone who has played the original Pokémon Red and Blue or the more recent Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon versions, will know that the they are based onturn-based RPGstyle of games. With the announcement of Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go, Eevee!, they are not going with same format but will take some features of theRPGgames along with some updated ones. Not only will you be able to play the game with only one Joy-Con but the game will be able to interact with thePokémon Gogame app on iOS and Android. This game is not considered one of the “core series”, or theRPGthat was teased at last year’s E3 as that one will release in 2019.
Nintendo Switch and Pokemon Go App
This means catching Pokémon will not only rely on just running around in the Switch game as a virtual character but outside in the real world as well. There was major hype with the release of Pokémon Go with it’s AR features but since has died down. This could be a way for Nintendo to not only launch a new Pokémon title but recapture some of app players' attention. Players will be able to transfer Pokémon from their app as long as they are part of first generation of Pokémon.
Battle System
In terms of gameplay from what we can see from the trailer there is a battle system which was something missing from the Pokémon Go app game, although you could battle gyms it wasn’t the same as the original Pokémon RPG games. Adding the actual abilities of the Pokémon in trainer battles reflects the RPG series more but more features will be revealed later on. Not only will you be able to catch ‘em all but you can now play co-op.
New Pokéball Plus Controller
Nintendo are also bringing out a new controller in form of a Pokéball so you can really live out your dream of being a Pokémon trainer. The trailer even shows you can “take” Pokémon out and about with you in the Pokéball. The price and release date of the Pokéball Plus is also yet to be announced.
The price of game has been set at 4,980 yen (around $49 USD) in Japan but no news as of yet for prices outside Japan has been announced. The game is set to release on the Nintendo Switch on November 16th, 2018.
