Amazon Studios is expanding its popularBoschfranchise by adding two new spin-off series to its roster. The first spin-off,Bosch: Legacy, continues the narrative of the original series, which followed LAPD Detective Harry Bosch on his investigations of different crimes. The story focuses on Detective Renée Ballard and her work in the LAPD’s cold case division. She will use unconventional tactics she learned from her mentor, retired Detective Harry Bosch, to solve her cases and bring justice to her community. The second spin-off, which is still untitled, takes place in Miami, Florida, and features new characters and storylines.

Bosch, which first aired on Prime Video in 2014, was based on the book series by Michael Connelly and followed LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, played byTitus Welliver, on his investigation of different crimes. The spin-off,Bosch: Legacy, continued the narrative of the original series and featured new characters and storylines, featuring Harry Bosch working with those he once perceived as enemies. Detective Renée’s efforts to improve the cold case division in addition to bringing justice to her community will be showcased in the series.

Bosch Legacy

The series is set to be executive produced by Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, and Jasmine Russ as co-executive producer. The premiere dates for either of the spin-offs have not been announced, and the future of the two new projects in development remains uncertain, as it has not been determined whether they will be for Amazon, Freevee or both.

Overall, this strategy appears to be aimed at reducing financial risks and increasing audience engagement.

Another example of Amazon joining the trend has to do with the renewal of its first-year seriesThe Terminal Listand developing its own spin-off series. By doing so, Amazon is seeking to leverage the popularity of the original show and create new content for viewers who are ready to explore the stories behing their favorite shows.
