There was a slew of questionable decisions made inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, many of which have been cited time and time again as the beginning of the fall for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from turning Wanda into the villain to killing Earth 838’s Illuminati. However, a new theory proposed that from the ashes of the doomed sequel, Marvel’s next big hero could rise, and even make an appearance inDeadpool & Wolverine.

Given that a multiversal threat systematically slaughtered Earth 838’s Illuminati, it is without a doubt that this team would look to reassemble its numbers, with a focus on the threat at hand: Multiversal Incursions and Invasion. One character that would be great for the job, while also filling in for Captain Carter, would be Brian Braddock: Captain Britain.

Captain Britain is the perfect role for Henry Cavill
Rumors have been circulating on the internet thatHenry Cavillhas accepted a role with Marvel Studios and could be making an appearance as early asDeadpool & Wolverine. Given that Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be a multiverse film (because we have seen that the TVA will play an integral part in the film), it makes sense to include a character that will have a connection to the Multiverse and to the X-Men, which would be Captain Britain.
Captain Britain as a replacement for Captain Carter in Illuminati would aid the team in dealing with multiversal threats. This could also serve as the inspiration for Reed Richards to form the Council of Reeds, which could further let the MCU dive into multiversal issues, come Fantastic Four. The team could also have other characters that have been traveling the multiverse, such as alternate versions of Loki, Doctor Strange, and Reed Richards.

Captain Britain could make an appearance in one other film
There are a lot of strong indications that the Fantastic Four is going to take place in the 60s. This puts the story in a very interesting place in the MCU. Now, given that this film will tie into the multiverse, It makes sense to include Captain Britain in this film for 2 particular reasons.
For starters, we know that a man with the surname of Braddock will be working with SHIELD, reporting directly toPeggy Carter, its director at the time, by the 1970s, thanks toAvengers: Endgame. Braddock could refer to Captain Britain as we know him, but it might as well refer to Brian Braddock Sr.

While initially not of great import, it is revealed in the comics that Braddock’s father is also a Captain Britain from an alternate dimension, who settled on Earth 616 and sired Brian and Betsy. This, combined with how important the Council of Reeds would be to the Multiverse Saga, means we might come across a Braddock most likely Brian Braddock Sr, who could be working with the Fantastic Four, before joining SHIELD after thier disappearance.
