Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the crown jewel of FromSoftware, may have just confirmed its anime adaptation thanks to a recent registration of an official website domain in Japan.
Kadokawa Registers Domain for the Sekiro Anime
Among FromSoftware’s vast catalog and on the podium of its true masterpieces,Sekiro holds a timeless place. And rightfully so.
Since its release in 2019 onPS4, Xbox One, and PC, the tale of the rogue shinobi has influenced many other games, with recent examples likeWuchang: Fallen Feathersor the upcomingPhantom Blade Zero.

Fans have always dreamed of a sequel (almost as much as they have for Bloodborne 2), but what they might be getting instead is a brand-new take — this time, in anime form.
This could be thefirst nearly official confirmationthat the soulslike is getting an animated adaptation, a rumor that has been circulating since 2023.

If the information is accurate, the project would be led byQzil.la, a studio that previously worked on anime likeJigokuraku.
It would be their first full anime series, which suggests it may havea short run in terms of episode count, matching the scope of the project.

Upcoming Reveals Could Happen at Major Events
Several big events are just around the corner where the anime could be revealed starting withGamescom this August.
Then inSeptember, there’s theTokyo Game Show, the perfect stage to present an anime version of Sekiro.

This adaptation lines up withSony’s recent strategy. After purchasing a stake in Kadokawa, Sony announced it would support anime and other media projects based on the company’s most popular IPs.
More FromSoftware Adaptations Are On the Way
The Sekiro anime isn’t the only project in development. Afilm adaptation of Elden Ringis already in the works, withAlex Garlandattached as director.
With itstragic storyline, stunning enemies, and unforgettable boss battles, Sekiro isideal material for an anime.
There are many samurai and shinobi stories in anime but not many are based on games, with rare exceptions likeNetflix’s Onimusha anime.
