The titular film received mixed reviews from the audience, and it did poorly at the box office by grossing$119.9 millionworldwide. This film was the lowest-grossing project in the Rocky franchise. TheRocky Vmovie producers, Irwin Winkler, and John G. Avildsen, were also not pleased with the initial end conclusion of the film. They claimed that this scene was never filmed and that Stallone was sure of the ending.
