Beyond titles likeStellar BladeandLies of P,more and more Korean projects are emerging for PC and consoles. While most are targetingPS5 and Xbox Series X|S, several may eventually arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
This time, however, things are a bit different. The supported platforms are currently unknown, and there’s no specific release date—just a vague launch window that may shift over time.
That said, the announcement byWEMADE MAXandMADNGINE—the studio behind the free-to-play action gameNight Crows—has caught many off guard, especially since its first official artwork evokes comparisons to Sekiro.
This is our first look atTAL: The Arcane Lands, a newopen-world action RPGin AAA scale. While console platforms remain undisclosed, the game has been confirmed forPC and Steam Deck, with a 2027 release date.
“TAL: The Arcane Lands is an open-world action RPG that combines high-quality photorealistic graphics built in Unreal Engine 5 with an original world based on the fictional Joseon dynasty.
Set in a world covered in mysterious gemstones, the protagonist and their companions engage in real-time action combat, strategically using weapons, magic, and cooperative elements to deliver a deep gameplay experience.
Notably, the fictional Joseon world—blending traditional Korean symbolism with fantastical elements—will offer players a strong sense of immersion,” according to the game’s first details.

“Our goal is to deliver a gaming experience that a wider audience can truly immerse themselves in, by combining the unique combat sensibilities of an action RPG with the freedom of an open-world game,” saidWemadeMax’s CEO.
“It will be a game with a unique style, blending cultural sensitivity and fantasy,” addedSohn. The “TAL” in the title refers to thetraditional Korean mask, symbolizing a journey of transformation and awakening to break free from a predestined fate and an oppressive world.
The phrase“The Arcane Lands”highlights the natural essence of this world, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy in an unknown land full ofmagic and taboos.
