The Mandalorianhas a name. Star Pedro Pascal revealed the name in a new interview promoting the Disney+ series. The first live-actionStar Warsseries premiered earlier this week and fans seem to be enjoying the world that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have helped bring to life. So far, only one episode has aired, but it seems to have just about everybody hooked and ready to solve the mysteries that the show offers.
One of the largest mysteries surroundingThe Mandalorianis the titular character. We don’t really know a whole lot about him just yet and we definitely have not seenThe Mandalorian without his helmetyet. However, we do know that he is an orphan and a loner, thanks to the first episode. We now know his real name. Pedro Pascal explains.
“The Mandalorian - whose real name is (phonetic spelling) Dyn Jarren - is your iconically cool, flawed, mysterious, loner gunslinger that harkens to the best of the samurai movies and the Westerns and in talking to (showrunner Jon Favreau) I asked him what should I be looking at. I know he loves movies. I love movies. What should I be watching? And he immediately brought up Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa, Yojimbo, andThe Good, The Bad and The Ugly. So, he’s very samurai, Clint and me.”
Dyn Jarren doesn’t seem to ring any bells in theStar Warsuniverse, but it’s good to finallyknow the name of The Mandalorian. While the name doesn’t seem to have any prior connections, it’s curious that we are learning about it from Pedro Pascal in a rather relaxed and calm way, via interview. Did Pascal make a mistake during the interview? For now, we don’t know, but we’ll soon find out.

Pascal didn’t know whether it was a movie or show, but he didn’t care and was immediately into signing on to play Dyn Jarren. Though we don’t see his face, the actor’s demeanor is perfect for the character and his voice provides a cool, calm, and collected vibe, which sets him apart from the other bounty hunters.
The Mandalorianepisode 2 premieres onDisney+November 15th andStar Warsfans are already starting to get a little impatient. With that being said, we are all lucky to get two episodes in one week since they will be releasing on Fridays from here on out. Whatever the case may be, this will give fans plenty of time to dissect and discuss the episodes instead of powering through them in one long binge, like a Netflix series.
