The news thatThe Matrix 5is now in the worksdropped yesterday. Plot details currently remain unknown, as does the involvement of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, with Warner Bros. Motion Pictures president of production Jesse Ehrman hinting “a new idea.”

Released back in 1999 and written and directed by the Wachowskis,The Matrixchanged modern sci-fi action cinema with its use of “bullet-time” and is now considered one of the best examples of the genre ever. Following two sequels,The Matrix ReloadedandThe Matrix Revolutionsin 2003, a fourth movie,The Matrix Resurrections, was released in 2021.
The Matrix Resurrections, which follows Keanu Reeves’ Mr. Anderson, aka Neo, as he chooses to follow the white rabbit once more, proved to be far more divisive than many had hoped. And it seems that the studio is now hoping to reignite the franchise withThe Matrix 5.
