Patrick Schwarzeneggerhas shown some love towards an upcoming remake, revealing that he would like to have a part in it. The star ofHBO’s “resort people are the worst” series,The White Lotus, most likely saw his career go one step up after the success of Season 3, where he played an annoying rich young man who saw his insecurities arise while staying at the Thai branch of the hotel. Nevertheless, there’s one specific role that Patrick is apparently seeking, and that is Patrick Bateman, the main character in thethrillerAmerican Psycho.
A reboot ofAmerican Psychois currently in development, withSuspiriaandChallengersdirector Luca Guadagnino at the helm. Casting for this new adaptation remains to be confirmed, and whileElvis' Austin Butler always seemed like an obvious frontrunner, Guadagnino has simply not talked about the new Patrick Bateman.

Recasting Patrick Bateman in American Psycho Is Tough, but These Actors Could Be Great
With a remake of American Psycho underway, these actors could embody the monster that is Patrick Bateman.
Casting the lead inAmerican Psychois not easy because not everyone is willing to dive into such a complicated character, who today could be seen as problematic. However, Schwarzenegger seems to be more than open to the idea of playing the maniacal Wall Street investment banker with a thirst for blood. Using X, formerly known as Twitter, he replied to user @willemragnarssn, who mentioned the actor as his pick for the remake. Schwarzenegger wrote, “I’d love nothing more ;)”

This wasn’t the first time Schwarzenegger expressed his love for the project. In October of last year, he quoted the announcement of Guadagnino’sAmerican Psychoreboot by writing “My dream”:
The novel by Bret Easton Elliswas previously adapted in the year 2000 by Mary Harron, where Patrick Bateman was played by Christian Bale. The thriller quickly gained a cult following, with many praising Harron’s uncompromising vision to bring such a controversial story to the big screen. The film starred Bale along with Willem Dafoe, Samantha Mathis, Josh Lucas, Justin Theroux, Jared Leto, Chloë Sevigny, and Reese Witherspoon.

Patrick Schwarzenegger Isn’t the Only One Showing Interest in the ‘American Psycho’ Remake
Luca Guadagnino’s next project remains a mystery. The production of his superhero project for DC Studios,Sgt. Rock, has been pushed to 2026, but we don’t see howAmerican Psychofits into his immediate landscape. Scott Z. Burns' script is seemingly still in development, and casting should follow afterward. Eventually,Guadagnino has to decidewho will embody Bateman once again, and also the rest of the story’s very peculiar and colorful characters.
However, one star from the original film hasalreadypitched Guadagnino an interesting idea. Chloë Sevigny, Bateman’s secretary Jean in the original film, spoke to IndieWire about pitching herself as the proper actor to give life to Jean again. She just needs a bit of movie magic:

“When I heard that [Luca Guadagnino] was maybe doing it, I don’t know if he is for sure. I thought he was doing a World War II picture. I pitched to him that I should play Jean again, and that they do that reverse-aging on me. I thought that would be something that he would be into, conceptually having the same actress play the same part. But I don’t know. He said he was going to think of something else for me.”
