Yesterday,Spider-ManstarTom Hollandrevealed that his highly-anticipated superhero movie will be shot in Atlanta sometime next year. While there is still much we don’t know about the newSpider-Manmovie, these new details are even more interesting when paired with comments made byRobert Downey Jr.on ABC’sJimmy Kimmel Live!, before debuting thefirst trailerforCaptain America: Civil War. Here’s what the actor had to say, in response toChris Evanstalking about how hot it was in Atlanta while they were shootingCaptain America: Civil War.

“By the way, we are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I.”

CouldRobert Downey Jr.be referring toSpider-Man? It’s certainly possible, but it’s worth noting that there are otherMarvel Cinematic Universemovies shooting in Atlanta. DirectorJames Gunnis currently in Atlanta, getting pre-production started onGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However,ComicBook.combelieves that this sequel doesn’t necessarily need any of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, while pointing out thatJames Gunnhas previously stated thatIron Manwon’t be featured in his sequel.

Doctor Strangeis currently in production, shooting in several locations such as London, New York, Hong Kong and Kathmandu, Nepal, but not Atlanta, andThor: Ragnarokhas been confirmed to film in Australia. It’s possible thatRobert Downey Jr.may have been referring toAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part II, but that two-part adventure doesn’t hit theaters until 2018 and 2019, andSpider-Manwill surely start production before those movies. SinceSpider-Manwill debut inCaptain America: Civil War, it would certainly make sense that both Iron Man and Captain America would show up inSpider-Man.

It’s also worth noting that, whileTom Hollandand other contenders for the Peter Parker role were auditioning, they read alongside bothRobert Downey Jr.andChris Evanson theCaptain America: Civil Warset. Of course, it isn’t known howSpider-Manwill fit into that story, but producerKevin Feigeconfirmed earlier this year that Marvel’s deal with Sony allows for other MCU characters to appear inSpider-Manand its subsequent sequels. Unfortunately, there isn’t much we know about theSpider-Manstory yet, so it isn’t know how both Cap and Iron Man may fit into the story.

Jon Watts(Cop Car) is directingSpider-Manfrom a script byJohn Francis DaleyandJonathan M. Goldstein(Vacation). No other cast members have been confirmed yet, butMarisa Tomeiis in talks to play Aunt May. What do you think about Iron Man and Captain America appearing inSpider-Man? Are there any other MCU heroes that you would like to see in this reboot?
