Arkane has confirmed thatRedfallwill launch for Xbox Series S|X with only a 30 FPS quality mode available. The Xbox Series X will support 4K resolution, whilst the Series S will support up to 1440p resolution, but both will be capped at 30 FPS at launch, something fans aren’t taking lightly.Twitter users are currently expressing their dissatisfaction with the announcement in various ways, with some deeming the gesture “not acceptable” (@GamerBrain6), others saying it’s “ridiculous” (@andrewlukenbach), and some even calling it a “late April Fool’s joke” (@ItsMrProducts). Fans like@XboxStudioand@Kingdom4Xboxquestion the value of their consoles if they can’t run games at 60 FPS, and multiple quote retweets are simply asking the studioto delay the launchrather than release a “technical disaster by today’s standards.“RELATED:Redfall’s Latest Gameplay Trailer Is Getting A Lot Of Hate On YouTubeDespite the disappointing news, Arkane has promised to increase the cap via a new update later down the line, saying, “60 FPS Performance mode will be added via game update at a later date.“The announcement of a 30 FPS cap was also made worse by a slew of other decisions made by the studio. As pointed out by@blackheartJV, Redfall won’t just be capped at 30 FPS, but will also feature host-only progression and will require a constant internet connection. Two things that fans haven’t taken kindly to.Once again though, Arkane addressed the concern of the constant internet connection requirement bypromising to remove the featurelater down the line. But unfortunately for Arkane, today’s announcement only adds insult to injury, as the recent gameplay showcase alsoreceived heavy backlash from fans.
It also recently surfaced that a PlayStation 5 version of Redfall wassupposed to be released, but the idea was scrapped after Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda. However, a spokesperson for Microsoft then toldGameSpotthat the studio has not “pulled any games from PlayStation.”
Redfall, which was delayed last year, is scheduled to be released on May 2nd for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
